It's been so long...

Oh my goodness, I did not realize it had been over 3 months since I had posted a message. I guess that shows how exciting our life is.

Rob, Bailey, Mom, Dad and myself just got back from Gatlinburg, TN. We had the best time. I'll post some pics and you can see how beautiful it was. We shopped, ate, and took a drive through the Smoky Mountains. The colors were still very pretty. Bailey was such a good little girl. I'm a little surprised that she did so well, seeing as she has a love/hate relationship with her carseat.

I threw in a picture of Bailey "helping" us pack by making a mess in her room...

Old Friends and Good Times

Last night, we had the pleasure of going to a Kenny Chesney concert with our dear friends, Melissa and Scott. Since Bailey came into our lives, we have spent less quality time with them. They had always been the ones with a child and we never could understand why they couldn't stay out late and we had to be quiet after Loran and Gavin went to bed. Now, we totally understand where they were coming from.

Melissa and Scott are very dear to us.....they introduced Rob and I at a party back in 2002. I had worked with Melissa who was married to Scott, who had been friends with a guy named "Robert." "Robert" had just gotten out of a difficult relationship, so Scott decided to bring him to a party held by mine and Melissa's boss. We met, hit it off and the rest they say is history. We owe a lot to them and they know we love them deeply.

We had so much fun last night (including jumping into a hotel pool late last night with our clothes on). It was great to have a night away to reconnect with our friends and each other.

By the way, the concert was pretty good, too!!

Lazy Days of Summer

This is pretty much what we've been doing all summer.....sitting around and playing with Bailey. She is beginning to sit up by herself and it's so funny. I don't think she really knows what to do with herself, so she just falls over when she's done. It has been so stinking hot here lately, that it's almost impossible to do anything. We went to the park a few days ago at 9 am and it was so hot that we could only walk 2 miles. We thought Bailey was getting too hot in her car seat/stroller. Actually, it was a good excuse for us to get out of the heat, as well.

She has started to get incredibly clingy with Rob and I. She doesn't like it when one of us leaves the room. I have to say, that I secretly love it when she reaches for me when someone else is holding her. It is such an awesome bond between a mother and a child. I never understood how my mom felt about me until she came.

What a Zoo?!?

We took Bailey to the zoo yesterday....she loved it. She loved being in the Snugli and looking at the animals with Daddy. They have a new, baby Elephant named, Scotty. He was so cute, as you can see.

Bailey had a wonderful time...I'm not really sure she noticed any of the animals, but she did have a good time people watching. I think she's going to be like us....Rob and I both love to watch other people, for some reason. I think we're both nosey...she definitely is.

I'm sure this was just the first of our many trips that we'll make to the zoo. Rob and I have been several times before, but it was so much more fun this time. It's a wonderful thing to be able to experience things through the eyes of a child as they see new places and things for the very first time. God has blessed us and we are so grateful for that.

A new ride...

Well, it's not really a toy....but, we needed a new car so bad. Rob's truck was not feasible for us now that we are a family of 3. We always had to take my car when we all went somewhere and we could only fit so much into my little Corolla. So, with Rob's work discount, we were able to get a good deal on our new Jeep. Poor Rob, he has been driving my car to work since we got it. I guess I'll have to let him drive it tomorrow. Hee hee...
Yesterday was Mom's birthday. We went to Outback for her birthday dinner and back to their house for an ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery. I would recommend the Cookies and Cream cake to anyone.....now, when am I starting that diet again?!? Ha!! There's always tomorrow!!

Carrots and Baseball

Bailey had her first taste of carrots the other day and she loved them. I don't know if you can tell that in the picture or not. I think she liked the washcloth as much as she did the carrots. I think she is going to take after Rob in the eating department...she hasn't met a fruit or veggie that she hasn't liked. Thank goodness...it will make it so much easier to get her to eat good foods if she's like him. Only in my 20's did I start to realize that french fries weren't vegetables. Mom and Dad always tried to get me to eat veggies and I never thought I liked them. Of course, I would have realized that I did if I had ever tried. Mom and Dad were right about many things that I didn't find out until I stopped being so hard-headed and listened.

We took Bailey to her first baseball game last night. The Lexington Legends were playing the West Virginia Power. She loved it...she even got a good nap on Nana.

The Legends lost 5-4, but we still had a good time. Bailey was pretty good throughout the game, which was a miracle considering it was about 90 degrees at game time. I hope that she will always appreciate these type of memories and the fun that can be had with mom and dad. I know we won't always be cool to hang around, but we're going to enjoy it while we are.....

Pictures, pictures....

Okay, here we are...we don't have ANY pictures of the two of us on the laptop. Of course, the first one is Me and the second is Rob. Now, everyone can see what we look like. It does help to put a face with a name. So many times, people look nothing like you picture in your mind.

Happy 4th of July....I think we'll grill out tonight after Bailey goes to bed and watch the fireworks from the back deck. Rob has been working so much that he may not be able to stay awake, but we'll see.
